The project therefore required separate blending grids for different stage areas, with both primary and backup grid sets prepared for the show.

Across the engineering files, the total number of slices reached approximately 400–500. The system also needed to switch between scene-specific grids quickly as the audience moved through the performance.

Conventional blending workflows can become difficult to manage when large numbers of mapping templates need to be switched during a live production. This allowed a single projector to store and run multiple grid configurations — typically six to eight sets for the project — without requiring the production team to replace or reload the mapping setup between scenes.

Instead of treating each scene as an isolated projection configuration, the different blending setups could coexist within the output system. The required configuration could then be switched as the performance progressed, while maintaining the mapping relationships across the stage.

hecoos also integrated projection matrix control and output control into the workflow, giving the technical team centralized control over the large number of projection outputs.

A Projection Workflow Built for Moving Performances

The six-scene structure of The Great Qin places unusual demands on projection.
