Dancingfor Justice: Creating Multiple Performance Worlds with hecoos xR/VP

A dance performance often relies on changing environments to support different stories, emotions, and choreography. However, traditional stage production requires physical set changes or complex scene transitions, which can limit creative flexibility and increase production complexity.

For Dancing for Justice, a six-episode dance showcase, hecoos xR/VP provided a virtual production workflow that allowed performers to move through different visual worlds within a single stage setup.

Creating Multiple Visual Environments Within One Stage

The production required diverse visual settings to match the atmosphere and storytelling of each episode. Instead of rebuilding physical scenery between performances, hecoos xR/VP enabled the stage environment to transform digitally through real-time virtual scenes.

By integrating virtual environments with the dancers’ movements, the system allowed performers to transition between different visual spaces while maintaining a consistent physical production setup. This provided greater flexibility for creative direction while simplifying stage management.

Real-Time Rendering for Dynamic Performance

The project deployed three hecoos xR/VP media servers, including one dedicated to foreground rendering. This configuration supported stable real-time output while managing the complexity of combining performers, virtual backgrounds, and foreground visual elements.

High-fidelity color reproduction helped maintain the intended atmosphere of each scene, while real-time rendering ensured smooth visual transitions throughout the performance.

Expanding Creative Possibilities for Stage Production

By replacing fixed physical scenery with flexible digital environments, hecoos xR/VP enabled the production team to create more varied stage experiences within a single setup. The workflow shows how virtual production can give performing arts greater freedom to explore new visual storytelling approaches, allowing choreography and digital environments to evolve together.
